Yo - Colleen!

I'm delighted to hear this saga has a happy

well, not ending I guess but new beginning. I hope the recipe stands you in good stead for many holidays to come.

The Fruitcake Saga, short version ( for those who haven't been following): Last fall, Colleen asked for a fruitcake recipe published in my food column roughly 7000 years ago. It took me almost that long to dig out of deep storage, by which time it was important to mention that fruitcake is a traditional wedding cake as well as Christmas treat.

The recipe went on the blog and then I commenced to worry it wouldn't live up to Colleen's memories. This comment from her completes the circle on a very upbeat note.

Hello Leslie,
I just want to thank you for digging out the fruitcake recipe. I made it and it's great. Loaves were shipped off to various relatives just before Easter and were much appreciated.
