Her gardens have also been profiled in Country Living Gardener, Metropolitan Home and The New York Times Magazine.
Leslie’s first job as one of the opening chefs at Chez Panisse, in Berkeley, California led to a catering company called Pie in the Sky, and to Good Food, a syndicated column that ran for 20 years in newspapers from Philadelphia to San Francisco. She has written two cookbooks: Reading Between the Recipes (aka The New England Epicure), and The Modern Country Cook, and is a contributor to From Betty Crocker to Feminist Food Studies (University of Massachusetts Press, 2005)
While writing about food, gardening and décor for publications as diverse as Country Journal, Food and Wine, Money and The New York Times Magazine, Leslie has also seen the world of home “from the other side of the desk.” As a Senior Editor at First for Women and Yankee magazines, she oversaw articles on all things domestic from food and gardens to antiques and designer furniture.
Those articles and the responses to them! have inspired her latest project, working title: “the very short book of household management,” a greatest hits collection of homemaking tips, shortcuts, recipes, and rules.” Please check her blog for updates and excerpts. |
